Meet at the car park for the Burrell Collection, the nearest entrance is Titwood road.

These sessions will provide a introduction to mountain bike skills to give you the skills and confidence to undertake off-road triathlons like the Beastie, Craggy Island, Aviemore Triathlon or the Heb. 

The sessions will cover mountain bike set-up and ‘M’ check, attack position, braking, cornering, descending and ascending, passing. 

The 4 week block is designed to be progressive so it's best if you attend all 4 weeks (however you can attend individual sessions). They're aimed at beginners but are also open to those who want to improve their skills.

You will need:

  • A bike (ideally a mountain bike but cyclocross is OK) with flat rather than clip-in pedals.
  • Cycle helmet (no helmet, no ride). 
  • Gloves. 
  • Inner tube for your bike / pump / tire levers.
  • Warmer clothes than you’d have for a road ride as this is a skills / technique session so you won’t be moving all the time. If you get cold easily then bring extra layers in a small bag.
  • Snacks (if you’ll be hungry during the session)
  • Water

This is an uncoached event, you should be prepared to organise time-trials or routes without the aid of club coaches. Coaches may be present but they would also like to participate in the training.

Every first session of the month will be a time trial, please be prepared to organise the course and timings rather than rely on a coach.

Intro to mountain bike skills Wed 19th Sep 2018

Meet at the car park for the Burrell Collection, the nearest entrance is Titwood road.

These sessions will provide a introduction to mountain bike skills to give you the skills and confidence to undertake off-road triathlons like the Beastie, Craggy Island, Aviemore Triathlon or the Heb. 

The sessions will cover mountain bike set-up and ‘M’ check, attack position, braking, cornering, descending and ascending, passing. 

The 4 week block is designed to be progressive so it's best if you attend all 4 weeks (however you can attend individual sessions). They're aimed at beginners but are also open to those who want to improve their skills.

You will need:

  • A bike (ideally a mountain bike but cyclocross is OK) with flat rather than clip-in pedals.
  • Cycle helmet (no helmet, no ride). 
  • Gloves. 
  • Inner tube for your bike / pump / tire levers.
  • Warmer clothes than you’d have for a road ride as this is a skills / technique session so you won’t be moving all the time. If you get cold easily then bring extra layers in a small bag.
  • Snacks (if you’ll be hungry during the session)
  • Water
